Position Overview

The Project Manager will provide oversight for all phases of Engineering projects, including all coordination, ensuring that all projects are being adhered to, meet quality standards, and proceed on schedule and within budget.

Essential Job Functions

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, May include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

• With direction from Director or Assistant Director, responsible for overall prioritization of all engineering projects.

• Assist the engineering team with scheduling all projects; ensuring that timelines and budgets are adhered to.

• Track and control project schedules and associated costs to achieve completion of project within time and budget.

• Identify problems and potential problems affecting project deadlines and take necessary corrective actions.

• Review the timely approval of all change orders and billings, and cost control budget adjustments.

• Manages and publishes project schedules as it applies to all on-going projects. Review with engineering team members on a weekly basis.

• Develops and implements a quality assurance/quality control program/grant compliance

and oversees execution.

• Serves as the day-to-day contact regarding project execution.

• Conducts field inspections.

• Assist in the preparation of reports, plans, proposals, and grant applications.

• Attend meetings as the City’s and the Department’s representative.

• Coordinates the schedules of the Director and Assistant Director

• Respond to public requests and concerns.

• Perform related duties as assigned.

Must posses required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

• Experienced working on both private and public works projects.

• Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, planning and organizing, decision making, and team work.

• Knowledge of project management technical tools.

• Working knowledge of cost control, budgeting and accurate reporting.

• Ability to communicate effectively with the public.

• Advanced computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project and PowerPoint.

• Familiarity with database information flow/costing software (CMIC)

• Knowledge of AutoCAD and other BIM software.

• Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other employees, and contractors.

• Prepare clear and concise reports on technical material.

• Possess strong customer service skills.

Education and Experience

Bachelor degree in engineering, business, or related field experience leading projects. Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task. Works well interacting and collaborating in a team environment, as well as independently. Must be self-motivated and have strong problem-solving skills, and take proactive initiatives. Must be willing to work the hours necessary to meet project deadlines and specific tasks. One to two years project management experience. Other combinations of experience and education which meets the minimum requirements may be substituted

Required Licenses or Certificates

Must possess valid driver’s license with insurable driving record.

Physical requirements include occasional lifting/carrying of 10+ pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting and kneeling to perform the essential functions. Working conditions are both indoors and outdoors.
